About

My name is Robert Hartland and I’m 23-year old amateur photographer. On this website you can find some of the pictures I’ve taken during locally and during my travels. Everywhere I go there are hundreds of pictures snapped so I thought I would create a place for my favorites that can be updated fairly often for others to enjoy.
While I enjoy the quality of film, I mostly shoot with a DSLR just out of comfort. It is nice as an amateur to be able to see the photograph immediately after snapping it to check quality. My passion first begun when an uncle of mine bought a 3MP Sony camera when they had just been released to the public. He didn’t know what all of the features were and I am a hands-on guy so I started shooting with it and found out all of the cool features. From then on I began to learn more about perspective and how to capture your scene perfectly in the frame. After that all I needed was a DSLR with a good lens to start taking quality photographs.
I find that shooting my miniature schnauzer Mia Bella, nature, structures/people around town and culture during my travels is what I do well. I have traveled to Hawaii, the Netherlands and driven across the US. I love to travel with my wonderful wife and hope to do more of it in the future. To me, photography is an art of observation and perspective. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place and capturing it on film forever. I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.
